You have those that swear by the treadmill and those that swear by the road. I used to swear by the treadmill. It was there, it was easy, I didn’t have to deal with the rain, and I could get off whenever I wanted. But one day, in a land far away, a good friend of mine introduced me to running outdoors. She also informed me (snidely, I might add) that treadmills where actually created as torture mechanisms for prisoners back in the 1800s. It’s easy to see why.
So there I was. Outdoors. Running. My phone wasn’t ringing. I wasn’t fiddling with the TV remote, and I wasn’t bored out of my mind. I was just, running. And it was amazing. I could feel every movement in my body, smell the air, feel the sun on my face and at the end of the run, I literally said out loud: I can’t believe I’ve been on the treadmill all this time.
What about you? Do you prefer to run on a treadmill or outdoors?
